Guard your modesty

Guard your Modesty

"And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed."

Surah An-Nur 24:31

"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."

Surah Ahzab 33:59

When we analyze the text of this ayat we find that covering ourselves doesn’t mean to have a form fitting outfit on and just because it has long sleeves and pants legs that you’re being modest. Modesty in itself means the unwillingness to draw attention. It’s one thing to be cute but it is a whole other thing when you’re making yourself up. This is something that you should do when you are at home with your husband. The outside world doesn’t need to see you in this way. We are supposed to be doing the exact opposite of what non-Muslims do simply because of the effect that it will have. Now I understand that everyone is on their own journey and that it takes time. But if you strive to be better Allah will help you and make things easier for you.
